A tree firmly planted..

I love love love trees.
How something magnificent, stately and fine could grow from something so tiny, insignificant, and weak.  I love how their roots seek out water, twisting and turning, and the lower they go the stronger the tree.  I love how they breathe out life-giving oxygen.  I love how some of them produce sweet, delicious fruit simply from soaking up the sun's rays and the ground's water.  They simply are.  Their leaves are sometimes healing.  They produce shade from the noon-day sun and habitation for birds and animals.  They are strong, secure, unmoving, yet constantly changing, adapting to seasons.

I have had many prophetic words spoken over me about trees.  How we can grow into mighty oaks of righteousness as we soak in the love of the Son, the water of the spirit and the earthy-nourishment of the Word.  How we can produce sweet fruit to the Lord Himself, simply by abiding in His steadfast love...  How Jesus Himself is the Tree of life.  "Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest, so is my beloved among the young men.  In His shade I took great delight and sat down, and His fruit was sweet to my taste." (Song of Songs 2:£) He shades us from the heat of the noonday sun, the heat of the Righteousness of God.. Full light shining right on us.  He is our shield, standing between us and the Burning Holy Light of the God who sees all.  He covers us with His shade and takes the burning heat upon Himself that we, the object of His love, might be hidden and covered in His restful shade.

Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.  (Psalm 1)

Lord Jesus, make me like this tree, make me like You.
